RubyDiscord bots without the boilerplate

A small framework on top of discord.py for single-server bots. You write the cogs, and Ruby handles the config, database, error messages, logging and more.

Write a cog

Drop-in cogs

Put a .py file in cogs/ and it's loaded at startup. A cog that fails to load is logged and skipped instead of taking the bot down.

One YAML file

Name, prefix, owners, statuses, server channels and per-cog settings all live in config.yaml, validated with pydantic.

Rewordable messages

Every message comes from a string table, so a server can reword any of them in its config without touching code.

Friendly errors

Cooldowns, missing permissions, bad arguments and crashes get a sensible reply, for prefix and slash commands alike.

MongoDB built in

An async PyMongo database named after your bot is ready as bot.db.

Logs where you look

Logged to a rotating bot.log and, as coloured embeds, to a log channel in your server.
